Summer Automobile Travel

Summer Travel Season is upon us and The Warren Law Firm wants to make sure you and your family’s travels are safe and enjoyable.

During June through August 2014, millions of people will travel by trains, planes and automobiles to a number of destinations across the country, the state or within their hometown. Most of these travelers will travel by automobile.

In 2011 there were almost 8 million registered vehicles in Virginia. In Charlottesville, Virginia , during June through August 2013, there were 163 car crashes reported, with 86 injuries – we are happy to state that there were no car fatalities reported during this time.

Because of these stats, we ask that you read the following before you make your summer automobile travel plans:

Do’s and Don’ts After Being Injured in a Virginia Car Accident. Also visit the Auto Accident page on our site Auto Accident for information on hiring an attorney after a Virginia accident.

To read more about how to protect you and your family after an automobile accident, request a copy of our book “A Crash Course in Virginia Automobile Injury Cases.”

If you do plan to travel by automobile to your summer getaway(s), please take the time to read and remember some summer road tips below:

  1. Service Your Car.If your car has not been serviced recently, schedule a preventive maintenance check-up now.A prevention check-up might include a tune-up, oil change, battery check and tire replacement/rotation.
  2. If you have children under the age of 13, please make sure that they all ride in the back seat of the car.If you have children that should be placed in a child or booster seat, make sure the seats are properly installed in the car.We know that everyone knows this, but make sure everyone has on their seat belts.
  3. Create and pack a “road side kit,” which might contain the following items:cell phone, first aid kit, flares/white flag, jumper cables, tire jack and work gloves.
