Our client was injured in a collision that occurred on Route 360 Westbound near Route 698 in the County of Northumberland, Virginia. At the time of the collision, our client was traveling in the second lane on Route 360 Westbound when a trailer became loose on the road from a vehicle owned and operated by another driver. The trailer crossed into our client’s lane striking his vehicle and causing him to run off the road and overturn his vehicle.

Due to his injuries resulting from the collision, our client was extracted from his vehicle by the rescue squad and then was airlifted to the Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. He suffered a severe laceration on his head requiring surgical repair, a hematoma in his scalp, an abdominal wall hematoma, bilateral shoulder contusions, knee pain and swelling, and cervical strain.  While at Riverside, he had x-rays and a CT Scan and was discharged with pain medication and directions to follow up for removal of his sutures. He followed up with his primary care physician and had continual pain and swelling in his knees, chest, neck and head, along with heart issues that were a pre-existing condition. An appointment was scheduled for our client for a follow-up appointment to remove the sutures from his head laceration and he followed up with Rappahannock General Hospital for his knee pain and swelling.

This case was originally submitted to the insurance company for settlement negotiations, but those proved unsuccessful. The case was then filed in Northumberland County Circuit Court and was tried before a jury. A verdict was awarded to our client.
