Our client was injured in a collision that occurred on Interstate 81 near Route 606 in the County of Rockbridge, Virginia. At the time of the incident, he was rear-ended by a tractor trailer when the driver fell asleep at the wheel. Our client sustained a concussion, headaches with light sensitivity, tinnitus, a left shoulder injury, and a left knee injury. He was transported by ambulance and seen at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.

When he returned to home to Georgia, he was seen by a doctor there and was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome, tinnitus, left knee and left shoulder pain, as well as neck and back strain and sprain. He was having significant headaches and cognitive issues. He was unable to function normally as his anxiety and depression increased and his cognitive abilities were negatively affected. He was referred for multiple types of conservative therapy, including vestibular therapy, physical therapy and a neuropsychological evaluation, which he attended dutifully.

Ultimately, after multiple injections and months of physical therapy, surgery was ultimately decided upon as the best course of treatment for his left shoulder. He then needed a second surgery on his left shoulder due to abnormal healing and adhesions in the muscles. Our client underwent multiple therapies to help with residual issues from the post-concussive syndrome, but he saw slow improvement. He still suffers from headaches, cognitive issues and tinnitus. We were able to settle this case for $575,000.
